One can always visit wikipedia and find out more about Indian more specifically the Telugu cultural program Avadhanam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avadhanam I recently attended this program given by Dr. Garikipati Narasimha Rao and I was totally engrossed in the evening delight that ran for more than 3 1/2 hour s. This Ashtavadhanam had 8 Pruchhakas , 8, all well read pandits cross firing the expert. There are four rounds of questioning done by the prucchakas and the answers to questions are all in poetic language. As he started, I could not follow the meaning of the entire verse, but to my relief, he explained the verses with such details that even a layman could follow and learn from it. He not only answered the questions beautifully but they were also filled with ideas, knowledge from the vedas and the mythological stories, his own life experiences, and last but never the least his timing of humor was incredible. Yawning at all inappropriate times!!! Is yawning considered a sign of boredom? Does it happen out of exhaustion? I am not sure, but yawning in the class is something I cannot resist. Sometimes it happens and the guy at the far end smiles with sympathetic eyes, probably thinking I am sleep deprived. Other occasions, my bench mate and I enjoy it with almost silent giggles. We proudly take turns yawning. Then there are those unfriendly looks from students saying, "Why don't you concentrate in the class?" I admire those who yawn in the class without much botheration and think it is some kind of class activity. While some classes are very interactive, I seldom speak in other classes. Proven to be contagious by psychological theories, it is good to see your fellow class mates yawning. The most inappropriate time is when the instructor catches you yawning and the most hilarious moment is when you catch your instructor yawning. I thank them for being a source of inspiratio...
