Turnaround Postulates
By Aparna C P
A note on smooth transition
from traditional systems to next-generation systems.
Is there a way to introduce turnaround postulates to refine a system
that is on its edge? An interesting proposition to address the current system
of chaos and uncertainty is to understand the basic intellectual and social
values on which the system stands. With due respect and honour to all the
professionals who have worked tirelessly for decades to get the system going on
the path of utility and goodness, a stage is set for the new generation to
build a future with turnaround technology, management, strategy and philosophy.
How does the present population perceive the situation and come up with
solutions that are both viable and sustainable?
Assumptions & Beliefs
Turnaround postulates is concerned with the development of a framework
that aides in smooth transition from traditional systems to next generation
systems. An insight into the minds of torchbearers and toiling individuals
gives a picture that is worth more than a thousand words. A brief survey is
necessary to be taken to find out the priorities and value systems possessed by
the professionals so as to develop a social model that is consistent with their
requirements. For centuries, many scientists, social thinkers and philosophers
have contributed to theories and models that have a significant impact when
considered during planning and policy making. Along with existing theories, a
place to understand the current mindsets and propose postulates is the first
and the foremost requirement of the system.
The system as it is today believes in “asking individuals a question
that they would ask themselves.” [In such a scenario, it has been shown
statistically that 70% of the sample remains silent.] Apparently, this is good as long as they are
in a position to prove what they believe in. But if what they believe in cannot
be proved, it is difficult and problematic to chart a path ahead with all the
resources at hand. An interesting and the most useful workaround is to make way
that not only fulfils the needs of an individual but also at large finds
solutions to the problems faced by near and dear ones.
As today’s fields of specialisation are separated by a thin boundary
line, it is time for the unification of such research areas that can have a
significant effect in creating synergistic teams. The turnaround postulates may
consider the systems such as collaborative, educational, economic, financial, ethical, social, recreational, spiritual, religious, technological, and so on in order to create awareness for the same
in the workplaces. A broad framework on the systems along with an in-depth analysis on the nature of their impact is essential for the transition.
Independence vs Interdependence
It is not only important to be independent but also be interdependent in
order to achieve the goals. Independence and interdependence should be the
basis of holistic well-being of individuals, families, societies and
organisations. In order to achieve a successful system, priorities between two
individuals and also between an individual and the workplace setup should
match. For a smooth progression of work, a lot depends on the interplay of
power and freedom in a setup. The power exercised and freedom to act is an
interesting phenomenon observed between two entities that are independent and
also interdependent for a cause. The motives are clear, the reasons are
rational, actions are verifiable and behaviours are ethical.
In the current context, a volatile environment presents interesting
opportunities at a certain risk. To circumvent the nature of risk and be
actively involved in the workflow requires optimism and strong determination.
Instead of finding the answers from the source of the problem, an alternative
approach should be introduced to tackle the mammoth problem. A systematic but
free of single point breakdown should be encouraged for further investigation.
An innovative system automatically develops when guided by principles that are
development oriented but free of fear, pressure and guilt. Finally, one has to
still believe in evolution despite uncertainty in order to achieve the common
goal.
